What are my responsibilities?

As Director of Human Resources, you lead the People & Culture vision of the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel. You create an environment where our ambassadors feel inspired, supported and empowered to thrive. Acting as a strategic partner to the leadership team, you drive our culture, shape the full employee journey and ensure our HR operations are future-ready, compliant and aligned with our authentically different identity.

In this role you will:

• Work closely with the HR team to create a supportive, efficient and well-coordinated HR operation.

• Actively bring our Mission, Vision and Values to life by embedding them into daily people practices, leadership behaviors and decision-making.

• Work closely with the General Manager and leadership team to align people priorities with business goals.

• Champion Learning & Development across the hotel, creating clear pathways for growth, performance and long-term talent development.

• Oversee recruitment strategies, onboarding and talent retention, building a strong pipeline of passionate hospitality professionals.

• Safeguard compliance by staying current with Dutch labour law, CAO guidelines and internal policies.

• Offer guidance in employee relations matters, acting with fairness, empathy and discretion.

We are searching for a Director of Human Resources who brings both heart and strategic insight to the table. Someone who thrives in hospitality and understands the rhythm of a busy hotel. You enjoy working collaboratively with leaders and teams, bringing clarity, empathy and confidence to every conversation. To be part of this journey with us, you…

• Have a Bachelor degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or Human Resources Management.

• Have previous experience in a leadership role in HR.  

• Command strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Can work independently, have excellent time management skills and a high sense of responsibility.

• Can communicate fluently in Dutch and English.

• Eligible to work in the Netherlands.

• Love working with people!

Transformation on the way…  

A unique opportunity is awaiting you in the city centre of one of the most dynamic markets in Europe. We are excited that the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel is currently undergoing a full transformation. A major investment has been made in the hotel which will result in completely renovated guest rooms and public areas, including a brand-new lobby bar, bakery & restaurant and a rooftop bar & terrace. The hotel will expand from 402 to 500 rooms and an additional conference centre will be constructed.

The Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel has a very high focus on sustainability and will aim to become an enhancement to the city of Amsterdam.
